We have developed high-performance, installable plugins for Magento and OXID eShop for the e-commerce specialist Zoovu (formerly Semknox). These interfaces enable online shop operators worldwide to integrate Zoovu’s powerful, semantic and AI-powered product search seamlessly and easily into their existing shops. We continue to support and maintain these plugins to this day.

The task

Background & Challenge

Zoovu offers online retailers an outstanding, semantic product search that understands search queries in natural language. To bring this technology to market quickly, the company needed ready-to-use connectors for the leading shop systems:

  1. Complex e-commerce architectures: Magento and OXID have very different database and rendering structures, each requiring a native integration.
  2. Easy installation for retailers: Shop operators must be able to install and configure the plugin without any programming knowledge (plug-and-play).
  3. Maximum search speed: The interface must not negatively impact the shop’s loading time – search queries must be responded to within milliseconds.
  4. Long-term update reliability: New Shopware, Magento or OXID releases, as well as API updates from Zoovu, must be supported without errors during live operation.

The solution

Our solution & your contribution

As a technical partner, we have taken on the design, development and ongoing support of the plugins for Magento and OXID.

  • Development of the Magento plugin: Programming a robust Magento module. The extension integrates directly into the Magento search process and forwards search queries to the Zoovu API in the background at lightning speed.
  • Development of the OXID eShop plugin: Creation of a native OXID extension, taking into account OXID’s specific module architecture. The export of product catalogue data to Zoovu has been fully automated and integrated to ensure high performance.
  • Automated catalogue export: Implementation of an intelligent data feed. The plugin exports product data, attributes and stock levels fully automatically to the Zoovu search engine to ensure search results are always up to date.
  • Ongoing support and maintenance to this day: Continuous adaptation to new Magento and OXID versions, optimisation of interfaces following API updates by Zoovu, and third-level technical support for retailers with complex system configurations.
